Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Holotropic Breathwork®
and other breathwork practices?
Holotropic Breathwork® uses a non-directive approach, meaning there is no specific rhythmic breathing pattern, forced pacing or directing from the outside. Your psyche's inner healing intelligence directs the experience,
while supported by evocative music and focused bodywork if needed.
What should I bring to the workshop?
You will receive a letter with all details for the workshop...
Amongst some of what you will bring are loose, comfortable pair of clothes, a water bottle, a eye mask (or blindfold), a journal, and a lunch for the mid-day break.
A comfortable mat, pillow to lie on, blankets.
Are there health contraindications?
Because Holotropic Breathwork® can involve strong physical and emotional release, it is not recommended for individuals with severe cardiovascular conditions, uncontrolled high blood pressure, recent surgeries, pregnancy, or severe psychiatric conditions. Please consult with us prior to registering if you have specific health questions.
Is Holotropic Breathwork always intense and cathartic ?
No, it is not not ...There is a belief that these experiences are intense and cathartic only, perhaps because of the era in which this work developed. However, as with any expanded states of consciousness work, experiences
can vary greatly. Some can be deeply internal and of a more meditative and insightful nature, while yes others can be very expressive, cathartic and anything in between.
The experiences are as vast as the human psyche is and the inner healing intelligence of body/psyche guides the journey.
When in doubt feel free to ask any questions !
