Mireya Alejo's workshop "Mujeres, Altares y Milagritos" offered us an opportunity to dive deeply into our personal and collective female lineage. Using movement, music and the arts, Mireya created a space which invited us to remember and reconnect with the mothers, grandmothers and all women upon whose shoulders we stand. Working to create and then share my altar in the company of other women was a rich, powerful and unforgettable experience. Muchas gracias! Fue un espacio para honrar generosamente a mi propio linaje femenino: a mi madre, a mis abuelas, a mis bisabuelas, bendiciendo la raíz femenina de donde provengo. Además, poder compartir con otras mujeres esta experiencia fue muy poderoso pues hizo que todas fuéramos una sola mujer a la vez, un solo útero universal de fuente de vida. El trabajo fue facilitado con mucha delicadeza y cuidado, y cada detalle tenía sentido: la música, la iluminación, las imágenes, la disposición del espacio, los símbolos y materiales. Un círculo de mujeres para reconocernos como tales y potenciar nuestra fuerza y fertilidad en todos los sentidos. Leeza Pachepsky, PhD About Tending the Fire Summer women's series: Have you ever mechanically poured yourself water only to end up drinking the whole glass all at once with unexpected delight, realizing both how much needed and how satisfying this simple ingredient was? This is one of the ways I could sum up my experience with the Woman circle. The 6 weeks series I attended this summer, after three years of emotional and personal hardship, was for me a deeply nourishing experience - in ways I wasn't expecting. Each week, I left the circle feeling powerfully rested, grounded, connected. Each week I felt guided into rediscovering and traveling back and forth the path of being genuinely free, happy and positive. What I took home, is the certainty that I am and will be able to keep returning on that trail by myself whenever I need it, with the support and blessings of a group of women. Not familiar with women/spiritual nor group gathering, I had no idea what to expect, and was honestly even a little circumspect and fearful about some aspects of the experience. It all vanished forever with the first breaths Mireya had us take. Soon enough, magic happened. Something both powerful and very internal, something my rational mind won't explain. With her gentle, insightful guidance, Mireya created this space where I felt so free to move, paint, create, explore, meditate and share. I will definitely be back. Since then, I am simply grateful.
